Install the apps and use them offline

Install any Pixx app so it opens in its own window like a native app, and keep working without an internet connection.

#Apps that install from your browser

Every Pixx app is a web app you can install: it gets its own icon, opens in its own window without browser bars, and keeps working when you're offline. Nothing comes from an app store, and updates arrive automatically the next time you're online.

#How-tos

#How to install on a computer (Chrome or Edge)

  1. Open the app you want, for example pixxivi.com.
  2. Click the install icon at the right end of the address bar, or open the browser menu and choose Install (Chrome: Cast, save and share → Install page as app; Edge: Apps → Install this site as an app).
  3. Confirm. The app gets its own icon in your Start menu, Dock or desktop.

#How to install on an iPad or iPhone (Safari)

  1. Open the app in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button.
  3. Tap Add to Home Screen, then Add.

#How to install on Android (Chrome)

  1. Open the app in Chrome.
  2. Tap the ⋮ menu, then Install app or Add to Home screen.

Install each app you use separately. They all share your one Pixx account.

#How to work offline

  1. Open the app once while you're online and signed in, so your plan can unlock it on this device.
  2. From then on it opens without a connection for up to a week. Each time you're back online it quietly renews, so regular users never notice.
  3. Your work saves on the device as you go.
  4. When you're online again, use Cloud → Save to cloud to sync your latest work to your other devices.

#Your devices

  • Phones, tablets and computers can all use the same account. Sign in once on each device.
  • Most apps have a full phone layout. The heavier ones (3D voxels, rigging, big maps and lighting) work on phones but are roomier on a tablet or computer. The app gallery on pixxsuite.com marks which is which.
  • A stylus works for drawing on iPad and Android tablets.

#Troubleshooting

  • If an installed app shows a lock screen while offline, it hasn't been unlocked on this device recently. Connect to the internet and open it once.
  • If you don't see an install option, update your browser. Firefox on desktop doesn't install web apps, so use Chrome or Edge there.
  • If an update doesn't seem to arrive, close all windows of the app and open it again while online.
  • If your work isn't on another device, save it to the cloud first (Cloud → Save to cloud) on the device where you made it.
